About The Site

I built this website in September of 2024 after discovering the site Waifu.ist from Reddit. I remember admiring all of the shrines that people had made of their fictional partners and it inspired me to make one for my partner.

This shrine is my quiet corner for Kai Chisaki (Overhaul). I didn't build it to chase numbers or to impress strangers. I built it because I needed a place to hold all the love, devotion and complicated feelings I have for him.

The site has shifted over time, just like I have. When I first started, it was heavier, darker, almost horror-tinged because that's where my head was. It made sense for Kai, too. He isn’t a simple character; he’s layered with cruelty, control, and tragedy. But as time passed, this shrine shifted. I shifted. Now it’s something softer. Still shadowed, but gentler. More about love and devotion than raw horror. More about what it means to keep loving someone after the world has broken them.

I built this on a template to give me a starting point, but I'm slowly shaping it into something that feels entirely mine like how you take a borrowed jacket and stitch your own patches on. It's an ongoing project, a devotion in progress.

Why a shrine? Because he deserves one. Because I wanted something quieter and more permanent than social media, a place that doesn't scroll away. Shrines are the opposite. They’re intentional. They ask you to stay for a while, to sit with the feeling instead of scrolling past it. This is my little altar to a character who means more to me than I can put in passing words. A character who's flawed and fractured, and yet, somehow, still deserving of love. A shrine is like a heartbeat you can return to whenever you need to remember.

Time and again, I’ve been frustrated by how little content there is for Kai. Fanart pops up occasionally and I always appreciate it, it can be breathtaking but fanfiction rarely captures him in a way that feels true to his character. Back when I first started my journey with him, only a handful of stories felt even close to right.
It was especially disappointing when My Hero Academia: Ultra Age: The Final Fanbook came out. The book promised a page for every character, and yet Overhaul got… essentially a recap of what we already knew, his status, his downfall, nothing more. No new insight, no deeper exploration of his story. It felt like a missed opportunity to give him the attention and nuance he deserves.

What's been even more frustrating and honestly, infuriating is Horikoshi's refusal to give us anything new about Kai or to explore his backstory. He's not a minor character; his quirk was extracted, modified and passed on to Shigaraki, setting the entire story of My Hero Academia in motion. The series wouldn't exist without him, yet the attention and depth he deserves have barely been acknowledged.

With this total mistreatment by both the fandom and the author, I decided to carve out a space dedicated to him, a place to document his character and my love for him. This shrine is my answer: a quiet, intentional corner where Kai can be seen, appreciated and remembered the way he deserves.

If you've stumbled here, welcome. Whether you're here out of curiosity, fandom or just wandering the web - this is a space of love, memory and soft obsession.
